Hare Krishna Prabhu! All glories to Srila Prabhupad! Thank you for the in depth reply. Sorry for the delay as I am very busy with the exam season in college. Its year end and the last set of exams are in session. So I have to invigilate as well as mark the exam scripts.

I cant help notice the phrase change of heart that you keep emphasising throughout your messages. Srila Prabhupad mentioned it as you say. Wha does this change mean? Is it a standard change or an experience as individual as each soul? How does one go about this change? I am trying my best to understand in order to bring about a positive change in my life.

Yes the reasons why religions have failed today is because they are far too materialistic with no spirituality in them. It’s a very sad state of affairs.

I received a postcard from Gaura Bhakta Das prabhu yesterday. It was from Vrindavan where he was visiting. He sounded very happy and blissful. I believe he should be back in France by now.

I have to make this short due to work. Please write when you can and kindly keep me updated about your India trip. I do wish to keep in touch with you if as you are on the move in India. Take care and please bless me in my journey of self discovery. Bye. Haribol!

Hare Krishna Prabhu! Another interestingly deep write up from you. Thanks again! Well I observe that you are on a very different stage of self realization. I doubt if I can ever come to your stage. Then as you have rightly stated everyone have their own individual relationship with the Lord and should be given the freedom to explore. Stereotyping self realization removes the fragrance of bhakti.

You have done a lot of research on this topic. Its nice that you are willing to share them with interested parties. But one strange point that you have mentioned is the tranferrance of Vedic knowledge from the kshatriyas to the brahmanas. But from my readings of the Bhagavatam and other epic histories like the Ramayana and Mahabharata, it was the brahmanas who were the custodians of the Vedas. The brahmanas are the spiritual masters for the other castes in Vedic society. So how factful is your statement? And if everything is distorted or corrupted then what do we believe in? How convincing will the shastras be if they have been subject to countless changes for the bad?

You are very convinced on buddhi yoga but how does bhakti fits into this? What about the chanting of the mahamantra which is the yuga dharma for this fallen age? For me observing all these differing concepts is only confusing. Maybe this could be due to my being still in the neophyte stage. I am a simple person who is trying hard to make progress in my spiritual life with little success. I prefer to chant, worship the deity and lead a simple life. I do not wish to complicate an already complicated life.

Truth is I have never liked religion. Throughout history it is the source of serious conflicts among humans. Infact religion has killed more people than all the diseases combined. Look at them all; Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism and a whole lot of endless “isms”. They are in constant arms against each other. We against them and they against us policies. Who will gain the most number of followers? Who will control who? I am so sick and tired of this whole fiasco that has been passed down from generation to generation. More and more people are gaining information about religion but at the same time there is increasing terror attacks being waged against fellow humans. So what is the relevance of all these religions? True lovers of God or absolute lovers of egotism?

I bid you farewell with those thoughts and look forward to your wise response. Have a nice day. Bye. Haribol!

Your servant,
Suda.

Hare Krishna Prabhu!

Its always a delight to read your deep realisations. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with me. Honestly I am trying hard to understand. All this alternative viewpoints are new to me. I never dared to step out of the guidelines prescribed by sampradaya. That’s my situation. I guess it’s the Indian psychological makeup.

So you think people should explore their inner spiritual yearnings. Sounds abit like the hippie culture. But don’t you think that people in the initial stages should be bound to a certain level of regulation? Surely we cannot expect a new initiate to do whatever he likes to the point that he violates the basic tenets of the tradition. As a teacher I observe this operating in my students’ progress. During their foundation period all is within very clearly defined concepts. But once they are in the degree level then they are given the free reign to explore, analyse, evaluate and criticise. They are expected to challenge the status quo of management cultures, develop their own styles and be unique.

You have correctly mentioned that Lord Krishna guides you in your path. Yet He recommends that one should surrender to a self realized person who will guide us in our search for spiritual enlightenment. Isn’t this a clear instruction that a spiritual master is necessary? Even the Goswamis and other sampradaya acharyas inspite of their refined realisations subscribed to norms set by their predessors. How sure am I that the voice in my heart is that of the paramatma or that of maya?

My questions are not in the mood of challenge but in sincere enquiry. To tell you the truth; although I have been practising kc for many years there has been no significant improvements in my realisations. Something has gone wrong somewhere. I am still searching for answers. Getting to know devotee friends like you helps a lot in this process of realisation.

Your winter months will be spent in the studio composing music and painting. Is there anyway we can sample some of your compositions and view your paintings? By the way when are you leaving for India? During the weekend I read an interesting article about a new album that is predicted to become the no.1 for the Christmas season. They are not some pop idols but a group of Catholic priests. They sing the latin mass and other hymns in such a melodious voice. The album is rightly called “The Priests”. The trio all in their forties are ordained priests serving their parishes in Northern Ireland. They were discovered accidentally by Sony. Their contract is worth £1.4 million! Best part is they plan to give most of the earnings to charity. I heard a brief interview with them by the BBC and a sampling of a song which was so divine. I will most likely buy this one as not only will it soothe my soul but it aids charity. Have you heard about them in France? Can Vaishnava songs be sung this way? I will be most excited if it can be done so.

I take leave of you and look forward to our next sanga. Take care. Peace and love! Haribol!

Your servant,
Suda.
